LNP pledges funding to the The Everyday Foundation
Both major QLD parties pledge $1 million towards new building project

The Everyday Foundation, formerly known as Suncoast Care, is excited to announce its purchase of a new building which will become its permanent home in the heart of Nambour.

The foundation has served the Sunshine Coast community for over 20 years, bringing practical support, community and connection to those in need.

The new building is located on Currie Street and Karen Gullo, Operations Manager of the charity, is excited about the opportunities the new premises will provide.

“The building was the site of the original Coles and has been a part of the Nambour community for close to a century, we’re honoured we’ll be able to add to its legacy while continuing to build our own.”

It has been recently announced that the LNP will provide $1 million and the ALP will also provide $1 million towards the renovations to the building. This is an incredible investment as it will allow the charity to move even sooner.

The organisation has several programs that bring practical support to the community from a low-cost grocery store, meal support kitchen, emergency relief and school pantry program. Currently, many of the programs are run in different locations, however the new building will allow all of these to be centrally located.

“The Everyday Foundation’s mission is to meet people in their place of need but also to help them in their journey out of poverty and to see lives transformed. We’re hoping that we’re able to serve more people as our program offerings can expand with our new space,” notes Karen.

Already making a big impact, in 2023 alone the organisation provided over 52,000 meals to locals in need. Many of these were provided through the meal support kitchen The Daily Bread and their low-cost grocery store which serves over 1000 customers each week.

“The need is great with food insecurity on the rise in Australia. Recent research from Foodbank Australia has revealed that close to 1 in 4 Australians have experienced severe food insecurity in the past 12 months, meaning that they have needed to skip meals or go the whole day without food. With the rising cost of living cited as the most common reason for families experiencing food insecurity.

“We want people to know that we’re there to help when they need it. It’s my hope that with our new more prominent location, we can see more lives impacted,” notes Karen.
